This page is about the website, not your medical record
Information you give us as a patient, in the clinic or through a patient portal, is protected health information and is governed by our Notice of Privacy Practices under HIPAA, which is a separate document provided to you when you become a patient. This policy covers only the website.
What we collect
Information you give us. If you request a guide, ask for a consultation, or email us, we collect what you type: typically your name and email address, and anything you choose to write to us. Please do not send detailed medical information through this website.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we use cookies and similar technologies to understand how the site is used. We use Google Tag Manager and associated analytics, which may collect your IP address, device and browser type, pages visited, time on page, and the site that referred you. This is used in aggregate to improve the site.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use advertising pixels that track you across other websites.
How we use it
To send you the guide or information you asked for, to respond to your enquiry, to improve the website, and to meet our legal obligations. If you opt in to hear from us, we may send occasional emails about menopause education, events, and the clinic. Every one of those has an unsubscribe link.
Who we share it with
With service providers who help us run the site and our email, under contracts that require them to protect it: our website host, our email and scheduling providers, and our analytics provider. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights or safety of any person.
How long we keep it
We keep website enquiry and mailing-list information for as long as you remain on our list or as long as needed for the purpose you gave it, and then delete it. Patient records are kept separately under the retention rules that apply to medical records in Alabama.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe from any email using the link in it. You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by emailing hello@mariposamenopause.com. You can set your browser to refuse cookies, though parts of the site may not work as well. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we honour it as an opt-out of sale or sharing, neither of which we do.
Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards to protect information submitted through this site, including encryption in transit. No website can promise perfect security, and we will not pretend otherwise.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
