You’re not imagining it

It’s not in your head. It’s in your body, and it’s real.
Where is it showing up for you?

Elena awake at night

Sleep

“I’m exhausted all day… and wide awake at 3am.”

Menopause disrupts the very systems that run your sleep: estrogen, progesterone, cortisol. It’s real, and it’s treatable.

Maya pausing at her laptop

Your mind

“I walked into the room and forgot why I was there.”

This is menopausal brain fog: largely hormonal, and not the start of decline. Your sharpness isn’t gone. It’s being interrupted.

Renée in a quiet moment by the window

Your mood

“I snapped at him again. That isn’t me.”

Your moods have real, physical drivers. You’re not “too much,” and you’re not broken. Your body’s chemistry shifted, and no one told you.

Claire pausing in her kitchen

Your body

“Nothing about my life changed. So why did my body?”

Estrogen touches nearly everything: weight, energy, joints, heart, memory. A whole-body transition needs whole-body care.

Every one of those has a name, a cause, and something that can be done about it. Nobody ever told you that.

That’s the moment Mariposa was built for.

The whole picture

Menopause isn’t a rough patch. It’s a whole-body transition, and it lasts.

01 · Duration
0years

You keep telling yourself it’ll be over by next year. Then next year comes. That isn’t you doing something wrong. The median run is 7.4 years, and it can start in your early 40s.

What women are told

02 · The care gap

You did bring it up. You got a shrug, a prescription for something else, or “you’re still getting your period.” That isn’t bad luck. More than 80% of women never get real care for these symptoms.

For every 10 women with symptoms, 8 never get real care.

03 · Whole body

It never fits into one appointment, because it was never one thing. Sleep, mood, weight, joints, memory: 30+ symptoms wired to the same shift, and the long-term risks underneath that nobody mentions.

…and 18+ more, all wired to the same shift.

Why Mariposa is different

A note from the doctor who built it.

Dr. Julie Grimes Stand-in: real photo of Dr. Julie to come

Dear Huntsville,

In 2002, I was a brand-new doctor starting my OB-GYN training. Armed only with my enthusiasm and evidence-based training, I couldn’t wait to care for women. That same year, the Women’s Health Initiative, a landmark hormone study, came out that frightened patients and caused doctors to essentially stop writing prescriptions for hormones. My mother also happened to be starting perimenopause at the same time. I put my educated foot down and would not let her take hormones. Watching her struggle with symptoms did not matter, because I thought I was “helping” her by following the science we had.

I did the same thing for my private-practice patients, but eventually, the real truth came out. Other important studies and further review of the original study revealed that timing and different formulations of hormones can actually help women live longer, fuller lives. My mom and millions like her had to suffer because doctors like me thought they knew best.

Now I am perimenopausal. My sisters and my friends are perimenopausal. I get so many calls from people asking how to survive this transition, because they often don’t get any real answers from doctors who have only seven minutes to see them. Should I take hormones? Which ones? Do supplements really help, and which ones do I need? How do I get some sleep? What can I do to stop raging at my family? Will a GLP-1 help me get rid of this muffin top? I realized that the one thing we all need is education and a listening ear to arrive at a real solution.

I built Mariposa because of those decades my mom lost. No woman in this town should be told “deal with it” while real help sits on the shelf.

I built Mariposa because the women I care about are not getting the education and care they need to thrive during this season of transformation.

You are not crazy. You are not broken. And you are not alone.

You won’t do this alone

A clinic, and a community.

Every woman at Mariposa steps into a circle of women walking the same path, starting in The Grove, the living room inside our clinic.

  • Weekly Conversations in The Grove: ask anything, get real answers
  • Events and Q&As with Dr. Julie
  • The Partner’s Guide: help for the people who love you
Before you ask

What women ask us first.

Perimenopause can begin in your early 40s, and its symptoms overlap with thyroid issues, stress, and other conditions. That’s exactly why we start with a real evaluation and the right labs, so you get a clear answer, not a guess.
No. Hormone therapy is one option among many. Your plan might include hormones, metabolic or nutritional support, peptides, or other approaches, built around your body, your history, and your preferences.
Yes, that’s exactly what our weekly Conversations are for. An hour in The Grove, our living-room space at the clinic: real education, any question you want to ask, no patient status required. Save a seat.
The other side

You feel like yourself again.

Sleeping through the night. Clear-headed. Energy for the people you love. At home in your body, and finally understood. That’s not a fantasy. It’s what happens when someone finally treats the whole picture.
